good times ahead

Happy New Year!

The phrase or the saying casually exclaimed by the barista or text message from mom probably gives you one of two feelings: excitement or discouragement. There is something about the tangible transition into a new year that gives us feelings of starting over, saying goodbye to good or bad seasons and moving on which can either bring joy or a little bit of heart discomfort. Depending on the year you had or in this case, the decade, you may be feeling a lot of wonder looking into 2020.

Friends, let me first remind you that every day is new, regardless of the date at the end of it or the season. Each day you can rise with the sun and make decisions big and small to change circumstances, attitudes and chase after dreams. The new year is not the only time to do this. So don’t overthink your resolutions and succumb to the pressures of others instagram posts about their insane goals, but consider your own knowing that there are good good times ahead of you & that a little goes a L O N G way.

If you don’t know where to start, let us help! These are a few of our favorite new years goals that help clear our minds, support our mental & physical health, and promote self-growth.

  • Pick one word for the next year. Remembering a word is easier than a list. It’s also much more transferrable. Write it down, stick it on your dash board or laptop and be surprised by the ways it will come back to you & show up in action this year.

  • Unsubscribe from emails you don’t read. Reduce the inbox noise & clutter.

  • Unfollow social media accounts that you find are discouraging, hurtful to your personal growth or incite negative thinking in you.

  • Drink more water.

  • Devote one day a month to take care of yourself. Call it a down day. You can do whatever it is you may need. You have permission to spend it alone or with friends, you have permission to be lazy day or go out for an adventure. You’re allowed to take a break & care for yourself.

  • If you have an iphone, go to your settings > screen time > downtime and schedule out time in which selected apps will shut off for an allotted amount of time per day. It creates a bit of accountability for you to get off your phone for a bit.

  • Go for walks. Don’t time it, don’t try to achieve a certain distance or accumulate steps. Just go for a walk, look around you and enjoy the simplicity of a stroll.

Cheers to you, to a new year, to the challenges that will make you stronger and the good times ahead.
